Benefiting SisTers PGH LGBTQIA+ Emergency Fund
Ended June 30, 2020
The Steel Army returns to Prideraiser to help support the Pittsburgh LGBTQIA+ affected by the current pandemic. We understand it is a tough time for a lot of people and this Prideraiser focuses on those people in the LQBTQIA+ community that are struggling. We also understand our own members and community may have their own difficulties so please do not feel obligated to donate.
SisTers PGH is a transLED, transgender community center, that provides supportive services, emergency shelter and housing for the trans and nonbinary communities of Pittsburgh, PA. SisTers PGH, also, trans inclusion training, advocacy, and People’s Pride PGH while offering opportunities for our trans communities to thrive instead of survive.
In March, SisTers started a GoFundMe where they accept applicants from the community to which they have and will continue to redistribute funds to. Their last update is summarized below:
Because of your support we were able to redistribute $17,730.90 directly back into our TLGB+ communities of Allegheny County. We have raised 32,808.00 to date, allowing us to reopen the application for another Round 1 of Applicants. Round 1 5/18/2020 - 5/31/2020 - In “Round 1,” we will prioritize fund distribution to LGBTQIA applicants who are (in no particular order): Black, POC, Transgender or Nonbinary, Indigenous, Sex Workers, Disabled/Chronically Ill, Not enrolled in or employed full-time at well-resourced educational institutions, Not eligible for paid sick leave through any organization, On the cusp of losing housing, Food insecure, Those who weren't able to complete application in the first 2 rounds and we will move folks who live at the intersections of these identities or experiences to the front of the line. Round 2 6/1/2020 - 6/15/2020 - In “Round 2,” we will redistribute $50 to every person who is LGBTQIA+, who is self-employed or working in the service economy in the order we receive applications. Please stay encouraged to give as we provide mutual aid for our LGBTQIA communities of Pittsburgh.
Prideraiser is being handled differently this year with the absence of games. If you made a pladge last year, you likely have already received an email from Prideraiser asking to make a donation this year. If not, or if you did not make a pledge last year, the donation link takes you directly to the GoFundMe page to make your donation.
The Steel Army, SisTers PGH and the Pride community of Pittsburgh appreciate any and all donations during these tough times to help them during the current pandemic. Thank you!
This campaign has ended but you can still donate to SisTers PGH LGBTQIA+ Emergency Fund!
