Atlanta means Family. Resurgence is Family.

Resurgence is jumping right back into Prideraiser for 2023 to raise money for Southern Fried Queer Pride, a quintessentially Atlanta organization empowering Black queer and QTPOC centered communities in the South through the arts.

We chose to support SFQP this year because of Atlanta's rich diversity and culture. From their own vision statement, "SFQP envisions a world where Black and QTPOC artists and leaders are employed and owners in the regional South. Black and brown queer folks are often the drivers of culture, but often lack the autonomy and resources needed to support themselves and their communities. Our mission to uplift them, give them the platforms they need, and help create an environment and culture that sustains them."

SFQP began a grassroots festival in Atlanta and has grown to include a series of monthly events and programming in the city and beyond. SFQP believes the arts are a way to empower and enrich our Southern communities by giving platforms for our experiences, our crafts, and our voices, and so organizes at the intersection of the arts and community building. The South is home to the country’s largest population of LGBTQIQAP2+ individuals, yet we’re confined to a narrative of stigma, statistics, and struggle. SFQP fights that notion, and is aiding in uplifting a honest narrative of resilience, rich history, and vibrance.
